my new carpet feels crunchy under foot

I had new carpet put in two rooms. Both over synthetic padding, juke like. Recently in one room the carpet now feels crunchy when you walk over it bare footed. Kind of like walking on sand on the beach. In the other room it is fine. We have not finished these areas with furniture, so they get very little foot traffic and it has never been cleaned...remember, it's new... about a year. I had the installer come back out and of course he can't feel it, nor understands the problem and speaks very little English. Frustrated. We have an inspector coming in about 10 days to look over. Any thoughts?

All over or just in some areas? If they used masking tape on the pad seams, it will make a crunching noise after a while. That's why they should use duct tape.

All over...and it is not a noise...it is the way it feels as it compresses under your bare feet and only doing so n one room.

Sounds like bad rebond pad. It will sometimes have hard crunchy spots from the foam they ground to make it. Just about all rebond has a few, we always pick out the ones we find.
