must lay tile over heart pine floors

I am in Honduras and have no access to backer board -- my only option is to lay ceramic tile over heart pine flooring. What would be the best way to prep it to ensure adhesion? I thought sanding the finish might be a good start.

There are no recommendations for such a procedure in the U.S. This type of installation is strongly discouraged in this country. How is it being done there? Check local recommendations.

We are selling recycled heart pine in the US for up to $ 5 per board foot.

Can you get expanded mesh--like the plasters use? Do an old fashioned mud set--Morter over mesh------set tiles in wet morter--It was the standard for over 100 years.--Mike--

wood moves to much to set tile on directly--it will be loose within a year.

i'm in Atlanta too, and i know that work is hard to find, but i never went so far as to look for it in HONDURAS!!!!!
just kiddin' ...I think oh'mike's suggestion is your bet bet.... any kind of similar material will do.... are you sure you can't salvage the pine? you could get some nice $$ for it in the right place...
