money is no option what is best durable floor

i am building my own place and have kids and a large dog.I want a nice floor in hallways and great rm but need something that will hold up.what is my best option for flooring?i know hardwood is out of the question because i've seen it mark up quite easily.but would cork , bamboo or just an expensive thick 12mm laminate be better suited for my install. the install is on a main floor of a bungalow where moisture plays no part.any help with this would be greatly appreciated:huh:

YOu want the most durable floor, hands down, and money is no object. it would be one of two. The more afforable of the two would be unglazed porcelain tile. The second would be epoxy terrazzo. Both floors are about as bulletproof as they get.

Any wood or laminate product is subject to scratches and dents. Like Bill suggested, porcelain tile is about indestructable. If the area is large. consider doing a border to keep it from looking like a shopping mall floor, and be sure to have the floor designed to better than the typical 1/360 deflection,to prevent future cracking from movement.

I also agree with the tile.
Should last forever.

Agree with Bill, porcelain has the strongest surface, (I'm saying that through gritted teeth) but epoxy resin is seamless so no issues in the future with failure of joints/grout.

My great-grandmother swore by her dirt floors. Or was that swore at them. Well, she sword by a lot of things. She would stand next to anything and swear. She just swore a lot. I think that is why her nickname was Polly. They called her the pirate's parrot.

Any who... Terrazzo gets my vote for the most bang for the biggest bucks.

Put some coloured glass through it. Stunning.
