Mixed Wood Floors

I ripped up the carpets in my house to find some beautiful hardwood floors, I had a family friend help me identify the floor and he told me it looked like different types of woods. The house was built in the 40's, not sure if this was popular then but its the first I've heard of. Anyways they definately need to be refinished and I was told not to stain becuase it would stand out different on different boards (roughly 18x3). I'm looking for diferent options for refinishing them.

Mixed Wood Floors

In the 40s there were frugal people--this may be a mix of odds and ends left over from floor jobs--

I agree--sand it and see---if you wish to stain the floor expect the unexpected---

Mixed Wood Floors

Don't know since they are old, but mixing woods can be a problem. Different species expand and contract at different rates.
