Minnesota homeowner...I can't believe it!
A couple nights ago I started having toilet/sewer issues for the second time in less than a week. I called Roto Rooter out (also for the second time), hoping they were not going to charge me another $300.00 for their work...
After this second assessment, the Roto Rooter man suggested we get a new toilet. So that's what I did yesterday. I knew how to install the toilet because I learned how to do it a few months ago, BUT...previous idiots, er...owners of the house did something stupid with the ceramic tile around the toilet -- they put the toilet in first, and then tiled up to it...leaving a depression in the floor where the old toilet was. CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?
It looks like I'll be taking out the bathroom tile. I wanted to eventually, but it looks like it will be done sooner than later. Add another one to the list of ever growing projects!
Regardless, I am mighty proud of myself for removing the old toilet and installing the new one. (Oh, and it even WORKS! Ha.)
Hardly clueless anymore, way to go LJ.
LOL, run into frustrating things like this ALL the time!!
Good job swapping it out. just dont caulk the base, or at the very least leave the back half open/not caulked so if wax leaks you'll be able to tell before it's too late:)
