Hi all,
I have just installed TrafficMaster Laminate flooring in my kitchen. Now I have to finish the stair nosing.
Home Depot said they do not carry the laminate stair nosing, and that they have to special order it-seems weird, but that's what they said, and I couldn't find it anywhere in the store. It seems like all the laminate-specific trim is fairly expensive, and so I was wondering if it is ok to finish the top stair nose with the cheap metal kind that you can get for like 6 bucks. The kind that just looks like an "L" that you nail down.
I don't care about the look, it will be hidden under the door to the basement anyway.
I was just thinking it might be bad to 1) nail into it, since it is a floating floor and 2) the metal might scratch the floor. To avoid nailing directly into the laminate, I was thinking of placing a piece of plywood under the nosing to support it, and just have the lip of the nosing overlap the laminate.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Meghan
