Just mix the dust with approximately an equal amount of aliphatic (yellow) wood glue, press it in place, let it dry, sand.

Going to look like poop and may do one of two things, crack when the humidy changes or cause the wood to "tent" or crush.

Joe, I have had excellent experience with this technique. It was recommended by none other than Tage Frid, one of the premier masters of woodworking. As long as you have a sufficient amount of dust (not chips, dust) in the glue, and you are not trying to match grain, the patch is just as good as Minwax or similar materials. If you need to match grain, then you need a different technique like a plug , painted on lines, or use of marquetry. But for small holes in hardwood floors, such as nail holes, this technique works very nicely.
