Low VOC flooring

When you are shopping for an eco-friendly, green flooring you will find countless manufacturers and suppliers who claim their flooring is eco-friendly, green and has minimum voc off-gassing, while giving you nothing more than their word or maybe their own internal data or studies. The only way to be sure a flooring product is truly a low emitting healthy flooring product is to have third party certifications that meet the standards complying with the volatile organic compound emissions criteria of the California Section 01350 standard. There are only (3) certifications that meet the California 01350 standard which is also needed to qualify a floor for LEED points on a LEED project. These certifications include FloorScore and GreenGuard Children and Schools Certification for solid surface floorings with integral coatings, sealants or finishes and Green label Plus Certification for carpet and carpet padding.
As a registered architect and LEED accredited professional I have done a the work to categorize flooring products that not only meet all of the above criteria but are also readily available to a individual homeowner or a general contractor. This will really save you a lot of time. It is available on my new website.
