Log cabin corners (hardwood flooring)


As part of my flooring project (see other thread), one end of the are is a small hallway with a left turn. I've been doing some research on different approaches and the easiest one sounds like the "log cabin" corner, or "butt and pass". The problem is, I haven't come across any good examples, picture-wise, of doing it.

When I take two samples we've bought and visualize the layout, I see that I'm going to end up with tongue meeting tongue. Or am I doing it wrong? If not, how do I overcome this?

All opinions on this have said that the log cabin corner is the easiest. But if I have to cut a tongue and create a groove, it makes all the other methods seem really, really, complex.

Anybody have any visual aids?
