Levelling a basement floor

Doing some development in the basement.
I have a bathroom that I am installing and it has a exposed floor of about 50 square feet. The house is about 90 years old, so the concrete slab, though in good condition is hardly level.
I only have a 7' ceiling, so sticking in a subfloor isnt the best option.
I seen those self-levelling compounds at the hardware store (levelquik). Just curious to know the opinions of anyone who has use it before. Live up to its claims? Durable? Do I need to paint on a waterproof layer underneath or on top?

The self leveling compounds are great help in leveling a concrete slab--

The one I have had the best success with is "Jiffy Set" mixed with Linewebers Liquid latex.

You need to work fast--it sets in minutes--several thin layers--sand can be added for deep corrections.

All self levelers must be covered with something--Ceramic tile---sheet goods-carpet-something--
By itself its to soft for the final covering.
