I am converting a garage into 3 rooms. The old conc. floor has a 1 7/8 inch slope from one wall to the other wall. I wish to level and put down tile. Plan to put down Detra moisture barrier. Question: How to level the floor? Building up a floating plywood floor is out. I want to use solid core doors and because of ductwork I can not trim the doors more than 2 1/2 inches. So thought I would do it with concrete. Goal is to put down 2 inches of conc. at one end leveling it to 1/8 inch depth at opposite end. Have read that one could use leveling conc at min of 1/8 inch. but max is 1/2 inch. Can I stagger mix types to compensate for putting down different thickness? Is cracking an issue with conc. if putting tile over it with thinset? Any concerns with bonding the new conc. with the old? Plan to spread 6 foot by 20 feet sections conc. then do another 6 foot section until done.
