I am re-decorating my kitchen and wish to lay lino on the floor, I currently have laminate flooring in the kitchen. Is it possible to lay the lino directly on top on the laminate?
It is possible but not even close to a good idea.
I say it is possible because ANYTHING is possible. But Vinyl will not the the expansion or contraction of the lam. It will fail.
I would say no because the laminate is a floating floor and expands/contracts with temperature changes. The vinyl isn't meant to take this kind of movement. Hopefully someone else will chime in to confirm/tell me i'm wrong. If it was me i would take out the laminate which will be easy to do and see what you have under the laminate for a subfloor. From my experience when you start piling different floors on top of one another it isn't the right way to do it, it's better to tear out down to the subfloor and start fresh.
