Laying Lino in bathroom ontop of chipboard?

I have brought some lino to lay in our bathroom.
Concerned about the level of the floor as it is wooden chipboard
sheets I think. There are some small gaps between the board and it is not even all over if anything it is slightly higher in the middle than at the edges.
Is the cheapest way to glue some cheap lino to the floor first and then put the expensive lino ontop afterwards?
Question, would I need to glue the top lino to the bottom lino all over or just at the edges. Would putting lino ontop of another lino cause any other problems?
Would appreciate any advice.

Most DIY manuals will give you step by step instructions on how to lay lino, if you are laying a roll of lino then I'd lay sheets of hardboard first, remembering to nail them with small copper nails every 6 inches around the edges.
This will make for a smoother surface for the lino (remember to put the hardboard shiny side up) but won't make it completely level, but it shouldn't matter as most people won't notice.

Here is the US you use underlayment rated 1/4 sanded plywood.
You do not use any glue and it's laid so the seams do not line up with the seams below it, and do not nail into the floor joist.
It's fastened every 4" on the edges and 6 to 8" on the field.
You can use underlayment nails, I use a narrow crown pneumatic staple gun.
No copper nails needed as suggested.
Once it's laid all the nail heads flaws and seams need nongypsom floor leveler.
Applyed with a putty knife, only need a thin layer.
Once dry sand it smooth.

Joe has it nearly perfect, at least here in the States. I will mention that I think he meant to say floor patch instead of leveler, which is a different product you shouldn't need to get into.

Also, Is this real Linoleum or a sheet vinyl? They are also two different products and must be treated accordingly. You may also have a cushioned back product, which is different still. Let us know what exactly you are using.

Very old post, but the hardboard(masonite) was laid shiny side down. saw many a person do it wrong.
