Laying cement board on top of leveling concrete.

Just about to start a kitchen into laundry room tile project. The laundry room is an old addition with a slight angle away from the first room totaling 1/4 inch at the end of the room. My thinking is to use concrete leveling, then to put cement board down to join the two rooms prior to putting down 12x24 porcelain tiles. My questions are... Is it wise to level before securing the cement board down? Or use 1/8 inch cement board in the kitchen and use 1/4 in the laundry and level it that way? Is there an easier way? Thank you for the help.

Explain this more clearly---what is the floor now? If it is concrete--just level it---you can not put backer board on top---don't even try---not needed.

Wasting your time with those thought processes, think of another idea. You cannot install cement board over concrete if that's your thinking.

Besides...where would you find 1/8" cement board?

I'm thinking the substrate is wood, not concrete. If so you need to install the backer board first then make the floor flat. Otherwise, flatten the floor then install a membrane such as Ditra instead.

Come back with details please.
