I am ready to install some lauan on my subfloor but I have some questions. This is an old farm house that I have just finished replacing the subfloor on and the bottom side will be sprayed with the closed cell foam insulation. Do I need to lay down a vapor barrier on the subfloor before I install the lauan? If I do what do I use felt paper, plastic house wrap or another type of material. I am not sure if it would need a vapor barrier since the bottom side of the floor will be sprayed with the foam insulation.
Lauan is not the recommended choice for vinyl underlayment, if that is what you are installing, but I used it for years and never had a problem. It can have voids in the layers that can cause problems.
