I am new at flooring so I need help getting started with the layout.
My son's kitchen is an L shape and I will be installing vinyl planks, 1'x4'.
where do I start?
Thanks for any help.
Larry

If there's a main entrance to the kitchen, you'd normally run them perpendicular to that entrance, meaning as you look into the kitchen from that entrance, you'd be looking down the planks. You would normally try to center them in the most visible area as well, where you'd have an equal plank on each side.

That said, before you do anything, just lay them out dry and see what your son's wife likes the best.

Without precise measurements it is impossible to answer, except for "bradnailer's" attempt to suggest the direction of the grain, which he misspoke and got backwards. (said perpendicular must have meant parallel?)

The pieces are 12"x48", should be easy to plan? I suppose the lengths will be staggered? Give us dimensions.

Thanks for the response, as soon as my son gets back from his trip I'll measure.
Thanks again
