No not a good idea. Water will damage your floor and also any grit from shoes will scratch the finish. What about tile, I have it in my entry and oh what a pleasure.

Laminate in the Primary Entryway?

I was lucky there, my wife wanted it. If you can't win on this then I would concider 3/4" hardwood. Sand the surface to except some polyurethane and float a couple of coats to seal up the joints. I did this at my dads with prefinished hardwood years ago in there Dinning room which has a sliding door going outside and has held up real nice. Just a thought. Merry Christmas

Laminate in the Primary Entryway?

I installed laminate (Dupont) in the entryway. I ran a bead of silicone caulk/sealant between the door jam and floating planks. I also have a small area rug down to collect dirt, rain, etc. So far, so good. Does anyone have suggestions on how to close gap that's formed between planks on fully installed floor?? This is not near the front door, so it's not related to the entryway install. Thanks..

gaps are gaps.
close one up to start another.

I would be against lam in the entry, but then again, I live in Alaska.

Vinyl or tile for sure.
