Laminate Installers

I had (4) rooms installed with laminate flooring, quite expensive. I noticed that the installers left with (4) boxs of unopened product! After looking at the invoice, of course they didn't indicate number of boxes but sqft to install. Did I pay for product that is going in the installers home?

They did a great job don't get me wrong and I should of said something when I saw it there but being in Texas and non english speaking I skipped it? I guess my question is did I pay for more?

A lot of factors, where these installers you hired to install flooring you have bought and paid for and already had on site?
Was the flooring from a store that gave you a price per sq. ft. for materials and labor?
Did you take the time to measure the sq. footage so you can compair it with the price per sq. feet you got charged for?

Store gave total price by sqft includes materials and installation. I am in the process of measuring myself. Sorry if I sound 'parinoid' but as limited budget for everything now just don't want to pay for product that was not used.

As a rule of thumb you have to allow 10% on average for waste, it would be in the flooring companys best interest to have sent some extra material so they would not have to stop the job and have guys standing around waiting for the worker to go get more materials if they ran short.

Since you were being charged by the sq. foot then the left over material belonged to the flooring company not you, unless you asked for it and paided for it.

Keep in mind we were not there so this may or may not be true.

When I show up to build, lets say a deck. I always bring my boxes of joist hangers I have laying around and keep them in a differant area then the ones the customer paid for just in case I need them instead of having to drive an hour to pick the one up Im short.
Time and time agin they think I'm stealing something when they see me leaving with them. Even though even if they were there's they had 0 use for them.
The worst one wanted me to go back and count every hanger, every bolt and nail I used, even though the deck was being built for one set price.

Bottom line they did a great job, looks great and I am not going to worry about it. I measured the sqft and although not perfect to what was on the invoice was close enough for me. I guess I got to trust more in the
companies we choose for this stuff. We had used this same place about 10 years ago for carpet and they a great job then also! Thanks for all the input.
