laminate flooring on top of tile
Our current bottom floor has ceramic tiling. I prefer laminate flooring, however I heard it's really expensive to remove ceramic tiling. Is it possible to lay the laminate flooring on top of the ceramic tiling? we would leave a pathway of ceramic tiling at the door entrances and would also keep the kitchen and bathroom ceramic, but would lay laminate flooring in the living room and dining areas.

Laminate adds another 3/8-1/2" to the floor and can be a toe bumber for some. other than that, you can install laminate over most anything. Removing tile is not easy, but the finished result is usually much nicer.

update?
Curious - did you try this? If so let us know if it worked. I am thinking of doing the same thing. Thanks!

It will be no problem to do it the way you described it. The main problem would be if it created clearance issues with a metal front door.
