Laminate flooring in mobile home
We reside in a huge double wide and just purchased 71 boxes of Prego laminate flooring. After doing more research, I have learned that foam underlayment must be utilized, which we were not told when we purchased the flooring from Lowes. I would not be so aggrevated, but I asked numerous questions about placing laminate in our home and the subfloor is probably OSB subflooring, as most mobile homes have this. The installers have been to the home to do the measurements and still no one has told us about this underlayment. Again today, I have researched more and have learned that Prego does not recommend use of their laminate flooring in mobile homes, which will probably void any warranties for sure. I have to say sarcastically that was wonderful news to us after spending 4600.00 for this huge project. Any advise on this matter would be greatly appreaciated. This experience thus far has been an eye opener.

You must use the underlayment.

Laminate is damaged quickly by moisture--high humidity and water spills---mobile homes have a history of high moisture in the floors.

The warranty is almost useless with PERGO anyway---there are so many exclusions that let them off the hook in case of a failure that you are on your own anyway.

Good luck----Other pros may have a different thought---so let's see---Mike---

Sorry, but Pergo is not a good product. Try to take it back.
