Laminate flooring install questions

Why do some install guides ask you to cut the tongue edge off to start the first row? Can you leave it on or start with the groove to the wall? Is it important to add tongue piece to groove piece? Is it a problem to add groove piece to tongue piece?

When I did my floor I did not cut the tongue edge off and paid for it later. Mine was a floating floor and once the trim was put up sometimes the floor would slide a littel and show part of the tongue edge that was covered by the trim. It is easier to add tongue to groove but you can also do visa versa.

If you stay 1/4 inch away from the walls, it will be 1/4 inch away from the tounge. So in fact your end of the lam is more than 1/4 inch away, and maybe your wall trim wont cover it up.

I am guessing....
