Hey there. I don't know if I am over complicating this or not, but here I go.
I am laying Laminate flooring in a room that is 208" wide. The Laminate Floor Planks are 50.6250" Long. I cannot start a row with a full length board, because I will end with only a 5.5" stub at the end - any my 'cut' pice for my next stagger will only be 5-6" shorter than a full length, which wont give me enough stagger.
The manufacturer suggests minimum board lengths of 16" and joint staggers of 16".
I cannot figure how to do this while keeping waste minimal. Is there any easy way to calculate a layout for this?
Do it like tile. Measure or dry layout a row. Center the cuts on the perimeter so they will be as equal as possible. A full tile or plank on one side isn't the best, if you have a sliver cut on the other end. I think as equal as possible cuts on the ends looks best for a basic layout. I'm far from a pro though.
