Laminate flooring direction.. odd?

I have a dilemma with my flooring, and which way to lay it.. I know the common rule of thumb is to lay it along the longest wall... Which I was going to do.. But here is the question I have.. When I go down the stairs to my basement, get to the bottom, and look left into the room, the wall to my far left is the longest wall.. but from that wall, to the right of me, to the end of that "hallway" is the longest run in the area.. which one do I go with? Some pictures to better describe what I mean..

Going down stairs,

"Longest Wall" the dark one..

From "longest wall" to door, is longer than "longest wall"...

Thanks for the help guys!
