Laminate Floor and Island
I will be installing a laminate floor in the kitchen and also adding an island.
I have talked to the people at the big box stores on whether to install the island on top of the laminate floor or lock down the island to the sub floor and then cut the laminate around it. Thought everyone would say cut around it, but, all 3 said to lay the laminate and then anchor the island through the laminate into the subfloor.
Are they correct? The kitchen is 12' X 12' so it's not real big. Doesn't putting the island on top of the laminate defeat the purpose of a "floating" floor?
Any advice is appreciated.
Go to the head of the class since you know more than those nice people who wear vests.:whistling2: Darn....it happens all the time.
You may also want to consider adding some added support to the joists under that new island if you have access.
