Just sanded new stain off of floor---What's this black ink substance???
A week ago, I mistakenly applied wood floor stain AFTER I had used wood filler in small cracks. So I had lots of spots standing out all over the floor. So today I used an orbital sander and an edger sander to sand the new wood floor stain off. Now, oozing out of the grain of the wood is this substance that looks like black pen ink. What is that from? Is it because the wood stain was still fresh? Or have I sanded the wood down too low? What would be the cause of this black ink-like substance oozing out of the wood's grain???
The stain was a Minwax Polyshades Stain, and the color was Provincial, which was a medium brown. I applied it to our wood flooring (which is a red oak) 8 days ago. And then I sanded it off just yesterday with the orbital and the edger. This stuff oozing out of the grain of the wood looks and feels just like black ink. Hope that helps give you a little more information.
