I'm installing pergo throughout my entire 1st floor. The first floor i prepared was carpeted. Below the carpet was plywood subfloor. This room and the kitchen connect. The kitchen, which was stick on vinyl tiles has a 3/8" plywood underlay. Whoever built the kitchen decided to put the underlay throughout the kitchen, and the cabinets are sitting on top of it. There is no way to remove the 3/8" underlay without either:
1. Cutting the 3/8" as flush to the cabinets as possible (which i can't figure out how to do)
2. Removing the cabinets and pulling the whole underlay.
A dremel is the only way I've had success getting anywhere near flush with the cabinets, but its extremely inaccurate and slow going. I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion for how to cut the underlay flush with the cabinets or if removing them from the wall would be the better option.
