Installing hardwood next to carpet

I will be installing hardwood in a room with three walls. The fourth side will be met with carpet. I plan to start at the far wall and work to where the carpet will be. How do I end the last row of planks? I was told that in a standard installation, with the wood meeting 4 walls, I would face nail the final row. But in this case, it will meet carpet and will not be covered with baseboard. Also, do I need to cut off the tongue from the last row?

Thanks.
