Installing Hardwood
Hi, I decided to install some hardwood in my daughters room, so we went to one of those auction sales and came home with some nice 3/4" hardwood flooring. After ripping up the old carpet and painting it was time to put down the flooring. I watched several videos on the subject and I think I am pretty well ready, but what I didn't realize was that the discount hardwood is just that. The width of the boards is nowhere close to being consistant , even the thickness varies quite a bit. So, after starting my first row and then another things began to look odd. The previous joint was now causing huge gaps as soon as the next board was tapped in place. I can salvage this project by measuring the width of all the boards in the same row and keep things fairly straight for the other 2/3 of the room, but what I need to know is , if there is an epoxy or varathane product that I can seal some of the gaps in the first third of my project wihout ruining the finish?

Thanks, kilowatt56

I don't know of a product to do what you are asking.

I used Bondo before with success to repair woodworking mistakes.
Using the red and not the blue activator will result in a nice wood tone color.
