Installing Grass Carpet on Enclosed Porch
I bought a polypropylene grass carpet with marine backing that came in a box.
Unfolded, it has a lot of wrinkles where it was folded.
I will be using Robert's outdoor carpet adhesive, sold by Homedepot. I haven't started the process yet.
The marine backing is pretty flat, so it is apparently the pile making it look this way, which will probably resolve in time.
My main concern is not being able to tell from the top while adhering it, as to whether there is any slack that will show buckling that will not resolve over time.
Is this concern valid?
Can I safely put it down with the adhesive as is, or would it help to water it down, and leave it overnight? (Click the image for a larger view. And, click that image to zoom in.)
Thanks in advance! - Rich
No water. Let it lay out in place overnight. Fold back one half, spread the glue, lay it in, then the same on the other half. Walk around on it as it dries and it will be fine.
Thanks Rusty so much for the quick reply.
By tomorrow should it be laying flatter?
I am concerned about making the final cuts because of all the buckling.
When I try spreading it out, it just wrinkles back up.
