Installing Ceramic tile: Ditra over Vinyl or rip out and use 5/8 Plywood?

Hello,

I'm planning on installing ceramic tile in the kitchen and entrance way.
The supplier suggested for the subfloor I use Ditra over the current
Vinyl floor to save time and money. But since I haven't had much
experience with Ditra, not sure if I should use it or just rip the vinyl up
and put in 5/8 inch plywood subfloor.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Assuming the floor is structurally sound, Schluter does have a installation method recommended for installing directly over vinyl...

I installed over vinyl on concrete four years ago. Holding up well without loose or cracking tiles. I made sure the vinyl was holding well to concrete, removed any blistered, loose vinyl, roughed the surface with coarse sand paper, then removed dirt/dust. be sure to use the best thinset, not the cheap stuff.
