Installation options for plywood underlayment?
Hello forum. I did a quick search but couldn't find an answer, could use some advice.
I am installing 1/2" engineered wood flooring. Area is adjacent to installed travertine tile with a total installed thickness of 7/8". Because of that, I am planning to add 3/8" plywood under the engineered for a smooth tile to wood transition.
Subfloor is 3/4" OSB over 9-1/2" deep TJI spaced 16" oc.
What are my installation options for attaching the plywood to the subfloor? I have gotten multiple recommendations (glued and screwed, 3d ring shanks, liquid nail over joists with staples, etc.). The installation instructions for the flooring say anything about adding plywood underlayment.
My concerns are 1) squeaks and 2) destructibility. I will certainly do what it takes to get a good solid installation. But I'm worried that using liquid nail would be an issue for the future if the plywood ever needs to come up.
What method do you recommend for installing the plywood underlayment? Thanks.
