Ideal flooring for baby's room?

Well... the day has come (or is coming). My wife and I are expecting twins to arrive here this August. So, we are starting to think about the nursery. She suggested pulling out the carpeting in favor of wood or laminate, with an area rug. I'm not sure - carpet seems ideal to me. Anyone have any good/bad evidence for any of these choices?

House is a 2-story w/basement built in 2002. Bedrooms are all on the 2nd floor - if any of that matters.

I would leave the carpet till the kids get a little bigger. Then pitch it. By then, it will need to be. Good luck with the new ones.

Carpet will keep the room warmer for the babies. Congrats!

Have you thought about cork flooring. It is hipoalergenic, soft, quiet, and water resistant. It is resilient. It comes in many colors to make your babies room one of a kind. Here is some of the colors it comes in. There are many manufacturers to choose from. Just do a search.

Never would have thought about cork. I'm not sure I've even seen a cork floor. I'll need to consult google for examples. Thanks.
