I'd like to tile our porch, which has a slab floor
I'm fixing up our existing home for resale and one area that has always bugged me is our screened porch - it is under roof at a corner of the house, and the floor is a slab.
I'd like to install 12X12 weatherproof ceramic (porcelain?) tiles but am concerned because due to the age of the structure (50 +) there is a crack running sideways across one end of the porch. If it has settled much it isn't apparent - but I'm worried about movement long term.
What type of underlayment would work in this situation? Will proper underlayment prevent the grout/tiles from cracking if done right?
The folks at our local tile barn were enthusiastic about using this type of tile on an exterior installation - although when I originally bought the tile it was for a front porch that I subsequently have decided to leave alone.
