How to tile over pine floor?


Ok the question, how to install tile on a pine floor.The floor is solid and i cant remove it because its under the kitchen cabinets. The wood is also about 1/2 inch higher then the next room, so what can i do with out raising the floor to much? Is their some kind of way to do this with out raising the floor much.

How to tile over pine floor?


Pine tells us next to nothing.
Is it plywood, 1 X 6 boards, ect?
Before even thinking about tile floors there's a few things that you need to figure out.
How wide are the floor joist.
How are they spaced.
What's the spans.
What type of subflooring do you have?

There are ways of cutting out flooring that goes under cabinets---

In a nut shell---NO--dimensional lumber moves to much with the seasons and should be removed or isolated with plywood and backer board---Mike----
