How scuffed should old tile be before tiling over w/ new

I am going to be tiling over old ceramic tile in my bathroom. I hit the old tiles with a 60grit on a belt sander. The gloss came off, but the tiles are not very rough. How much scuffing do I need to do for the modified thinset to bite properly?

Hmm. As gritty as you can get I would imagine.
Did you test also to make sure there are no hollow spots?

Yeah, I did test for hollow spots and level. These tiles are perfectly solid. Thanks.

Use a good modified thinset and go for it.
