How to remove glued down carpet

Is there a chemical that will disolve carpet glued to a cement floor or is the only way to remove it, with a scraper and pliers?

Cut it into strips and pull it up with pliers. Chemical removers could affect whatever you intend to install next. Besides, you would still have to get most of the carpet off first. There is no chemical that you can just pour on the carpet. You can rent a machine that will scrape it up.

the machine is SO much easier. i dread removing glue down from cement. when i find glue down on particle board the skilsaw is your tool of choice. just pull it all.

Default makes some stuff. I used it once on some stuck glue and it worked. Just read the directions. Kind of expensive so renting a machine might be the better way to go.

Most carpet glues are heat sensitive.
If the site conditions at the project allows, dump some Hot water on the carpet, wait 5 minutes and it will pull up loads easier.
