How to remove ceramic tile off concrete?

I need to remove old tile off my bathroom floor. The tile is directly on the concrete slab. I tried using just a hammer and chisel and was getting no where fast.

I was thinking about buying a reciprocating saw and getting one of those spyder scrapers but dont know if that would even work.

Any ideas on how I could go about doing this?

How to remove ceramic tile off concrete?

Go rent a chipping hammer with a flat blade----you will have it cleaned off in short order.

That is a special use tool---best to rent---no need to own a tool like that---

If you have trouble cleaning off the thinset with the chipping hammer---a cheap angle grinder with a diaamond cup will have it off in no time.

It's not giant, it fact it's small compaired to lots of others.
But it will blow the tile right off of there with a tile chisle.
Just a flat chisle with a raised area in the middle to lift and crack the tile.
In the drill mode it will drill holes super fast in brick, block, concrete.

I was thinking of getting a reciprocating saw and trying one of the Spyder scrapper blades. Do you guys have any experience with those?

Not going to work!
Might be fine for removing something like linolium but would distroy the saw and the blade when used on tile.

Do NOT ask for a hammer drill. A hammer drill is just a drill. It's a chipping hammer or demo hammer or rotary hammer.

Not sure what the $ is to rent. I know you can buy a cheapo at Harbor Freight for about $80-90. And who knows....it might even last one job? Just kiddin, I don't know that. Anyone own one of these? http://www.harborfreight.com/power-t...mer-97743.html I was at the store the other day and think the cost was $79 and a better more HD than this one.

I bought one and your right it lasted one job. I took it apart to try and fix it because the stores an hour and half away and was blown away with how cheap it was built. The wires had melted going to the armature, they were the size of a tooth pick.
I've had my Bull Dog now for about 5 years and it still works fine.

Yup, I have one I bought at harbor freight years ago. I tore up maybe 6-7 floors with it. Busted up a Ron of concrete. Works great!
I have an older one, it has the same colors as the Mikita one. Luv it
