I have a 3/4" oak hardwood floor with a rug covering most of it. The floor is in excellent shape less an area about 2’ square where there is a transition from one room to another and no rug. Here the finish has worn away completely.
Without redoing the whole 12’x 14’ floor (just not needed), how can I repair/refinish this area?
Post a picture, there really is no great way except to refinish the worn floor.
If you really wan it to match hire this one out to a real hardwood floor refinisher.
You can tape around the board(s) with painters tape, then lightly sand them with a 220 grit sand paper. Then wipe the area clean and apply a couple of coatings of whatever finish was used on the rest of the floor. If you are not sure you may need to test a couple different types.
