How much sandpaper needed to refinish hardwood

I purchased an old house with approximately 900 sq. ft. of hardwood flooring. It is in relatively good condition but needs a new finish. I am going to rent an oscillating sander with a 12" x 18" pad. I asked the rental place how much sandpaper I need and they had no idea. I can buy the sandpaper much cheaper through a retailer than what the rental place charges so I want to buy it ahead of time. I have no idea how much to order. I am planning on using three grits: 36, 60 & 80.

Can anyone give me an idea from experience on how much I should order? I don't know if I will need five sheets of each or twenty. Although I think I will need more of the 36 than the others.

Around here the rental store sells me paper and gives me credit for any not used.

The reason that this is not answerable is we don't have any idea of the condition of the floors and how much you are going to sand off.
