How long should it take to sand my floor?

In a few weeks, I'll be attempting to refinish the maple floor in my 1920's bungalow. I'll be doing one large room measuring 12'x27' and one 4'x10' hallway attached to the room. How much time do I need to get the sanding done? The floor is in fairly decent shape, so I shouldn't be taking a lot of material off the floor. I'll be using an orbital sander from the rental store.

My hope would be that I could sand, clean, and get my first coat of varnish down in a day and 1/2.

1 1/2 days should be more than adequate.
