How to hide face nails on 1st row hardwood floor
We missed the part where it said put the nails as close to the edge as possible to later cover with a 1/4 inch round.
Also, there are areas where this just wont work ( near the slider door that a 1/4 round will be used to cover the expansion gap, etc.) Also, unfortunately my husband used ugly metal silver colored finishing nails instead of looking for a gold finish that might have blended better in the 5" wide 3/4 inches tongue and groove solid maple flooring. How can we effectively hide these hideous nails? Sink them, but then what. Fill with ? Sawdust? Floor is prefinished with a gloss though. Thanks, Michele and Paul |

These are the correct nails, not colored ones. Sink the nails. Mix wood putty with stain until it matches when dry. Make samples until you find a good match. Use a small flexible putty knife to fill nails holes flush with the wood. You will only see them if you really look for them.

Set finish nails below the surface, then fill with colored pencils(minwax or others) or putty colored to match

Wood Filler Blend Sticks (similar to paper-wrapped crayons) come lots in a package precolored to many shades and are cheap at most any hardware store.
