How far should tile come from cabinets?
In my basement remodel, I'll have a 6' wide section of cabinets against the wall in one corner. There will be a sink installed. How far should the carpet stand-off from this area? I.e. how far should the tile come out from the cabinets? Is there a standard?

Typical spill protection area is 3 to 4 feet----I suggest that you lay out the area with some blue tape and see how the width looks in the area that you have---
Consider using an aluminum tile edging to protect the tile edge from damage-- Google 'schluter tile edging'---
