How do we remove ceramic tile from a hardwood floor?

Hi,

My wife and I have removed some old carpet to get down to the hardwood floor.

We are happy so far but we are kind of stuck on how to remove the ceramic tile entryway.

Here are some pics:

Should we just muscle it out of there? Is there a right and wrong way to do this?

It looks like it is sitting on a piece of wood.

I'm thinking we are just going to rip the wood off basically, but I was hoping someone here could give me some advice before I do that.

Especially if that is not what we want to do.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you very much

How do we remove ceramic tile from a hardwood floor?

a crowbar will work just fine. it is not a proper subfloor so it should just pop right off

Get a pair of goggles---thump on the tiles ,gently, with a big hammer.--They will just bounce loose.

Then pull up the ply--pull out any staples or nails. Sweep. Should be uneventful.---Mike---
