Help! Walked through wet floor varnish

Hello, all. We just had our floor sanded and varnished, and the contractor installed the second coat of varnish this morning. This afternoon, our 4-year-old son got free and ran into the room where the varnish was setting. There are footprints everywhere.

Will these remain visible? Or will the wet varnish settle in and they'll disappear?

If they remain visible, what's the best way to get rid of them? Sand them with a fine coat of sandpaper?

Thanks, all. My only other option now is waiting 14 years to sue him.

Statute of limitations will expire so do not hold out hope of suing your little one. Capital punishment---which would send a strong message to others according to Texans---is your only recourse.

Let all dry and see what you have and how deep the footprints. Call your floor refinisher back. I bet you $5 this is not the first time he/she has encountered this situation. The contractor will know or have suggestions on how to even things out either with some sanding and spot coating or maybe even buffing them out when dry.

Don't panic. I am sure your little one feels terrible for the mishap. I marched across a huge, fresh poured and surfaced patio slab about his age (looked like a done deal to me!). It dawned on me about half way across I was in trouble. My parents were not pleased but the mistake was countered and all was well.
