Question

help refinishing my stairs

help refinishing my stairs
i replaced the treads on my stairs (oak) stained them and a few coats of polyurethane, this was a couple years ago everything looked great but now it looks dull and there are a few spots that look like the color wore off a bit. i dont want to strip and sand the whole staircase down again and was thinking of throwing down a new coat of polyurethane but what can i do about the spots where it looks like the stain wore off . I know i cant put stain over polyurethane but can i mix some stain into the polyurethane , give a light sand and apply that? also what about minwax polyshades will that work? i read this can be applied over finished stairs
