Help needed with floor joist cut for toilet plumbing
I am new to this forum and hope someone can help. During a bathroom remodel we discovered that someone had cut all the way through a floor joist and run the plumbing pipe up through the subfloor. Why I do not know as now the on either side of the pipe is basically hanging in the air, no support. What is the best fix for this? Hanging a whole new 16' long 2x10 joist is not going to work, too many other pipes, hvac, electrical in the way. Would making a sandwich of the joist work - using spacers to bring the width of the joist beyond the 3" drainage pipe on both sides of the cut joist and then using the longest joist we can as a sister joist on either side?
