help: laminate floor leaves a gap around closet

I am installing laminate floor in one of my room. My plan is to install laminate floor into the closet in the room. This is not a walk in closet. The closet has a 6 feet opening with a double sliding door. When the door is close, the door is meant to be flush with the frame of the closet opening. I have foolishly put a base board on the frame of the closet opening to cover the 1/4 in expansion gap for the laminate floor. Now the closet won't close flush because of the base board at the bottom. Obviously I need to remove the base board, but then how do I cover the expansion gap? Really appreciated for any help or suggestion on what to use to cover the gap and still allow the door to close flush to the frame.

Post a picture.
Door trim and casing was supposed to be undercut so the floor went under it.
Supposed to use a transition strip at all door openings, not run the flooring through.

here is a picture of what it looked like. The short stub of base board is just an example of the type of base board I used.

it is the little gap that runs along from the 8in mark to the 10in mark. i though i have to leave that gap for expansion. i should not fill it in right? i need to find a way to cover it up.

I don't understand the problem. The laminate is supposed to be installed with a 1/4" gap from the wall all around the room. The 3/4" deep trim you are using should hide the gap. If you still have some gap a flooring store should carry putty and caulk that is colored to match.

Can you notch the piece of base instead of remove it completely? Make it to where the base return terminates at the closed door

Might help to post a pic of the door closed

I understand the problem. You can not practically put baseboard on the 5" face.
I expect you need to undercut the drywall on that 5" face, so that the flooring slides a little under the face of the wall. If there is 1/2" drywall there, you can put the flooring 1/4" behind the face of the wall and still have 1/4" for expansion. Is all that flooring nailed down? It would have been a lot easier before putting down the flooring. You likely have metal corner bead on that wall.

Baseboard right to the doors as mentioned previously and there's nothing to see when they're closed. Fill in with a small strip so it doesn't drive you crazy every time you open the doors.

Sorry about the lousy cell phone pics.

sps-2: the floor is not nailed down. i have laminate floor and the boards are just click together. I am going to un-install the last few rows and redo the gap around the closet. And I think I will cut the sheet rock at the bottom and slide the planks under. the corner does have a metal braket. i hope it cuts easily. i think it is a good solution. thanks

here are 2 pictures, one with door open and the second one with door close.
