Help:installing linonleum from the 1930's

I have some old OLD linoleum. It's Armstrong Quaker Rug (linoleum). My father-in-law found it at an auction complete in the roll for $20. My wife LOVES it, and he father has since passed, so I really would like to do this right.

It's pretty brittle, as you may guess. When I cut it down to the largest dimensions, it seems to ripple as I cut. We currently have vinyl flooring in, and wanted to know if I can put the linoleum over it. If so, what type of adhesive would I use? I'm not real handy, but I can usually get jobs done pretty well if I know what I'm SUPPOSED to do.

ANY help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks
Chris

Old linoleum often contained asbestos. You definitely want to be sure you're not putting asbestos in your home. Call Armstrong and ask them if they used asbestos in this floor. They should also be able to tell you how to best install it.

From what I've read this is older than when they used asbestos, but I like the idea of actually calling them. I didn't think of that.
