Help I can't identify my flooring...

We have this strange material that goes up the stairs in the house we bought. The house is almost 100 years old and I have no idea what this is. It looks like some sort of grey vinyl with a backing.
I want to pull it up and sand, but I am afraid of asbestos adhesives.

Can anyone help

This material may be linoleum. It is difficult to tell by the picture.
Some linoleum did contain asbestos. The best thing to do is to take a sample and have it tested. It may not contain asbestos.

a closer up pic will help.

it's true you can have a piece tested.

ITEL is such a company that will do it.

I am trying to add a closer shot of the floor. I will for sure get it tested, just to be on the safe side.
