I had my floor tiles done in my bathroom. and you know how the haze forms on the tiles from the grouting. well i got all that out from the tiles and the tiles look great. but the grout must be hazy because the grout i picked is alot darker then what it looks right now. i cleaned it with warm water and a sponge, then used a rag. the rag worked better as the tiles got pretty much perfect. but my thing is my tiles are dark grey as they should be and my grout is light grey where it should be the same color as the tiles. what happened was this... it was grouted friday last week. then sat till monday and grouted again because the grout was unsanded so it was setting. then monday came and it was grouted the last time. then after the tile guy was done, i then waited till wed and started the cleaning. ???
Normally, grout is removed before it has time to set up, like within a half-hour or so of putting it down. You've left it 2 days so I'd say it has set about as hard as it is between the tiles, although in a thinner layer.
Fortunately, you can remove it by using an acid to break down the cement in the grout. Try white vinegar first, let it sit on the tiles about 5-10 minutes (but not in the grout lines!) then remove it with a towel. Try again if not successful.
Oh sorry...well all I can add is that most grout problems I see have come from an improper mixture; things like crumbly grout, or greyish patches here and there are signs that the grout wasn't mixed properly or the thinset under the grout was left too proud. The if too much hard water has been added, then you may see a whitish powder on the surface. This is efflorescence and can be brushed away but the results are the best.
If worst comes to worst, then you can always re-dye the grout the shade you want it to be.
